Meet the Doctor

All of the Chiropractor’s in this office share one thing in common…that is the desire and passion to remove nerve interference in the body so that every person’s body will function the way God intended.

Dr. Art Coffman

Dr. Art was born and raised in Independence, MO.  He went to a chiropractor with a friend when he was 29 years old.  He really only went to keep his friend company, but the chiropractor gave him an adjustment.  He soon realized that when he left the chiropractor’s office that his nose was clear and he had no headache (2 things that he had been “living with” for as long as he could remember).  To make a long story short…after a few years, he decided he would become a chiropractor so that he could help people reach their full health potential.  He graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College of Kansas City, MO. in October 1975 at the age of 37.  Since then, he has accomplished the following:

  • Past President of the Cleveland Chiropractic College Alumni Board, as well as board member for 14 years
  • Current President of the Board of Trustees of Life Foundation, Marietta, GA
  • Associate instructor at Cleveland Chiropractic College in the subjects of: Thompson Adjusting Technique and Chiropractic Principles and Practice
  • Visiting Lecturer at Life University
  • Certified Internationally to teach Thompson Adjusting Technique
  • Taught Post Graduate seminars at Life University, Marietta, GA and Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City, MO
  • Current Tennessee Representative for the International Chiropractor’s Association (I.C.A.)
  • Honored by the I.C.A. as a Fellow of the I.C.A. in 1991
  • Honored by I.C.A. with the inaugural presentation of the Herman Ballard Award, May 1997
  • Current member of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association
  • Past President of the Southeast Tennessee Chiropractic Association
  • Published as the cover story in the December 1985 edition of Today’s Chiropractic magazine
  • In 2003, participated in a chiropractic mission to Nicaragua where he and the others present adjusted thousands of Nicaraguans

In addition to all of that, there are some personal accomplishments he is especially proud of as well.  Because of his decision to become a chiropractor, his brother-in-law and 3 children also became chiropractors and two of his children married chiropractors!  He also was honored with being the commencement speaker at Dr. Joe and Dr. Nicole’s graduation from Life University in Dec. of 2003.
Dr. Art owned and operated a practice in Kansas City, MO from April 1976 until March 1992.  He and his family then relocated to beautiful Chattanooga, TN and he opened his office here in May 1992.  He and his wife of 38 years, Judi, are happy to be in the South… land of “Southern Hospitality” and NO SNOW!!!

Dr. Joe Coffman

Dr. Joe is Dr. Art’s son, and therefore, literally grew up around chiropractic.  He was raised in and around the idea of focusing on supporting the body’s God-given ability to heal itself instead of relying on potentially dangerous drugs and surgery.  In-as-much, most aren’t surprised to hear that he has never taken a vaccination or any other medication.   He grew up in his dad’s office watching patients experience greater health through chiropractic, and in many cases, literally changing their lives!  So, when it was time for him to decide what to do with his life, the decision was easy.  Naturally, he wanted to become a chiropractor so that he could help people in the same way he had been watching his dad do for years!  He graduated from Life University, School of Chiropractic in December 2003, but not before he met Dr. Lisa, who is now his wife of 2 years.  She is also a chiropractor and comes from a chiropractic family as well, with 6 family members as chiropractors.  Collectively, they now have 12 chiropractors in their family!!  Dr. Joe has participated in three chiropractic missions to Nicaragua, been asked to speak at chiropractic seminars, as well as presenting numerous health workshops at local churches.

We’re sad to announce the departure of Dr. Joe from our practice. He and his wife, Dr. Lisa, will be pursuing new opportunities in Florida, where all of her family, including all four grandparents, live. They will eventually be taking over Dr. Lisa’s father’s chiropractic practice in Deerfield Beach. Therefore, while we will miss them, we are happy for them and wish them the best in this new and exciting adventure.

Dr. Joe’s last day in the office will be June 12th

Be sure to come by, so he can see everyone before he moves!

Dr. Rebecca Holden

Dr. Rebecca was born and raised in Dalton, GA.  She graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s in Biology.  She then went on to pursue her chiropractic degree at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic and graduated as valedictorian of her class in September 2005.  Dr. Rebecca has been a part of the CCLC team since 2006.  She first got into chiropractic when she was in high school and needed to take her mom to a chiropractor for a back injury.  While there, she read brochures and spoke with the chiropractor and was intrigued by what she learned.  She, of course, learned that chiropractic was for much more that just back injuries!  She keeps busy outside the office with her husband, Wayne, of 9 years and their foster children.  She also plays piano for her church and enjoys any sort of outdoor activities.

Dr. Nicole Coffman-Cole

Dr. Nicole is Dr. Art’s daughter and Dr. Joe’s sister. She currently lives in Georgia with her husband of 5 years, Dr. Dan (also a chiropractor) and their 3 children, Samantha, Benjamin and Olivia. Dr. Nicole’s story is very similar to Dr. Joe’s in that they both grew up with the same thoughts on what health should be. She has been very active in the practice since she was young. As soon as she was able, she began vacuuming, filing, and such, and has since worn virtually every hat in the office. At one point, when she was younger, she didn’t want to become a chiropractor… she wanted to be a “Becky”! That was the name of one of Dr. Art’s assistant’s years ago in Kansas City. Obviously, she changed her mind. It is very hard to work in an office like this without wanting to go to chiropractic school yourself so that you can help to make the same changes in people’s lives too! All that being said; you won’t see much of Dr. Nicole in the office, due to living in Georgia and her three children. She does help out with the family practice wherever needed; including the upkeep of the website (hope you like it). Her main job, though, and her favorite one as well, is being mommy to Samantha, Benjamin and Olivia!!!

Gayla

Gayla has been a part of the CCLC family for 8 years, just after she moved to Chattanooga from West Virginia.  She lives in Hixson with her husband of 42 years, Bob.  She is the first face you will see if you come in the morning hours, because she is our morning CA (chiropractic assistant) Monday through Friday.  Gayla keeps busy with her 4 grandchildren, ages 5, 11, 13, and 14….. the main reason she only works in the mornings!!  She also loves to travel, working outdoors on her farm and likes 4 wheeling.

Lisa

Lisa moved to Chattanooga from Arkansas in July of 2004 and began with CCLC in March of 2005 after her husband of 24 years, Leonard, became a patient.  She takes care of all the billing needs of the office.  She is also responsible for all the beautiful landscaping outside the office!  She has 3 children, David, who graduated from University of Arkansas at Conway and is now working in management, Daniel is currently a Business Finance major at UT Knoxville, and Rebecca who will soon be a student at Notre Dame.  Not to mention her 2 dogs and cat!!  And she says that in her spare time she enjoys…her spare time!!!

Tina

Tina is the newest addition to the CCLC family…and is literally part of Gayla’s family; she is Gayla’s daughter-in-law.  She and her family recently relocated to Chattanooga from West Virginia.  This, of course, made Gayla very happy, because she can see her grandchildren more often!!  She is the first face you see in the afternoon, because she is our front desk CA Monday through Friday in the afternoons.  When she is not busy with her husband of 7 years, Chris, and their 2 boys, Cassidy and Jacob, she enjoys crafting and sewing.

Judi Coffman

Last, but certainly not least, is Judi.  She is Dr. Art’s wife.  She, like Dr. Nicole is in and out of the office, so you may not have the pleasure of seeing her often.  However, if she were not behind the scenes, doing what she does…. who knows where the office would be today!  She wears many hats: wife, office manager, mom, bookkeeper, marketer, public relations officer, and payroll.  And probably more!!  In addition to all that, she has been very involved in Chiropractic outside the office as well.  A few of her accomplishments are as follows:

  • Past President and current board member of the International Chiropractor’s Association Auxiliary
  • Past board member of Cleveland Chiropractic College Alumni Auxiliary
  • Past Board member of the Missouri Academy of Chiropractic Auxiliary
  • Two terms as President and numerous years as a board member of Ladies for Life
  • Past President and board member of Women’s Chiropractic Forum
